Wow! I have been gone a long, long time! I haven't posted in two weeks, but it seems like forever. I will be spending the next month catching up on blogs! Lol! I will have to read every single post for I am the type of person that doesn't want to miss out on anything at all. Especially from my prim friends! I so enjoy all the make overs, good finds and lovely pictures of homes.
First of all, I was so excited when I came home from Mexico to find I had a package that had been patiently waiting for me for about a week from my prim friend Leslie over at Crafty Mom. I won her first ever giveaway and my first ever blog giveaway win! I was so excited and couldn't wait to receive it!! Here is a picture of the Love jar. I have it sitting on one of my garden window shelves above my kitchen sink. Doesn't it look wonderful with my other jars? I just love it!
This neat candleholder is sitting on my hutch in my dining room. I love the grubby candle that is in it!
Thank you Leslie for such sweet treats!! I will think of you as often as I look at these handmades and be reminded of how precious my blog friends are to me!
I picked up a few things in Mexico that aren't necessarily primitive, but handmade.
The metal pan is actually a cooking pan. They use these everywhere down there but it won't work on my ceramic stove top so I bought it to use as a candleholder. It has a prim look to it. I paid 28.00 pesos (around $2.40) for it. The carved wooden bowl was a steal at only 40 pesos (around $3.50)! I'm debating on whether to leave it unfinished or paint it. I'm not too fond of the unfinished wood look, but I really hate to alter it. Inside the bowl are some little trinkets that I bought for my printer's box. I love buying little miniatures for it. They are just too cute. My favorite thing I bought was the textile. I'm not sure if it's home made. The dear lady I bought it from didn't speak any English at all. It was 50.00 pesos (around $4.35)! She did speak the international language... a smile... when our transaction was completed. The painting was completed in less than 5 minutes with nothing but cans of spray paint! It was incredible to watch a woman and her young son take turns making these beautiful works of art! They worked swiftly and precisely with their hands. I was humbled to watch them work. They used pieces of torn and crumbled up newspaper to form palm trees, waves and water from just a blob of paint on a piece of cardboard! It was mesmerizing!!
Well, I guess it's time to close this post and start catching up on my prim friends! Have a warm and wonderful weekend~
