I'm re-purposing a couple of rooms in my home. But I decided to take a little break this afternoon and finish off a couple of projects that have been stored in my cabinets since last year. I've been inspired by Leslie's Whatcha working on Wednesday.
This little mustard cubby had been painted burgundy and left that way in my craft room for a few years. So I painted it black, then mustard. And there it sat. I had forgotten that it originally had burgundy paint on it. When I sanded it down today, the black and burgundy came through. Never meant to do that, but I really liked the way it came out.
Rag balls are my most favorite thing to make. I don't know why that is, but I so enjoy making them. I've made a bunch and I just keep making them! As I sit and work on them, I find myself thinking back to the olden days where woman had to be resourceful. They would take worn out clothes, tear them into strips, and roll them in a ball to be used for something purposeful. I just think that's so neat! And I know as thrifty as I am, I would have been doing the same thing! =] These rag balls are so cute! This is my first time to make them so small. They are only 1 1/2" and I love how adorable they turned out!
I love this little library catalog case. It's my latest purchase. Been thinking on some prim labels I can make for it. My sister had my name for Christmas-- the set/3 nesting paper mache boxes on top of the case and the handmade tag sticking out of the drawer were some of the things she gave me.
This is a project that was actually started last year before Valentine's Day, but only the burgundy hearts were finished. So today I sanded and antiqued the white heart. They are sitting at the end of my kitchen counter where I always change things out for the holidays.
After I finished my sanding and antiquing for the day, I decided to decorate my holiday tree. I have these sweet little cupcake picks that I use on my Valentine's tree.
Then I have some antiqued metal heart ornies. That's all I put on it. I'm thinking about maybe tying some homespun on a few branches... just because I love homespun that much!!
I'm glad I took some "play time" out for me today for tomorrow I go to work, then I come home to work some more on my rooms.
Hi Angie!! I love your Valentine's tree and the heart-shaped boxes are really sweet as wel!
ReplyDeleteAngie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in :)
Don't you worry! You are not in trouble for not linking up! I know there are lots of people out there that participate on Wednesdays but have no clue where 'Whatcha Working on Wednesday' originated from :) You can link up but you don't have to. It's just easier for people to find it if you want people to find it...
Great work on your makeovers and decorating :) I, too, think that I could very easily live back in the older days. I don't need all of the fancy stuff we need now and I enjoy making my family things :)
Have a great day :)
Leslie
I found a little wooden box at the thrift store on Wednesday. I can definitely can see rag balls in it after I repaint and grundy it up a bit! Thanks for the idea!
